Applying to The Berggren Center

Science is a human endeavor. Our science is only as good as our people so we are always looking for talented, bold, and driven scientists to join our program. The Berggren Center prides itself in its Science, Technology, and Medicine, but also in the training environment and how we help to launch the careers of our students. The University of Chicago provides an interdisciplinary, engaging, and exciting intellectual environment.

For potential Undergraduates

The College at University of Chicago

Our undergraduate program appeals to students who seek a challenging intellectual environment and wish to work alongside some of the best scholars in the world. UChicago is an amazing place to be a student as you enjoy the rigorous inquiry, culture of discovery, and metropolitan environment that is Chicago. Undergraduates should apply through the College's application portal.

For potential Doctoral students

Quantum Engineering

The quantum engineering graduate program offers interdisciplinary training across all areas of quantum information science with a focus on practical applications. The program offers flexibility to engage with quantum science and engineering across all areas of biology and medicine. This program within the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering is the primary point of entry into the Berggren Center for Graduate Students.

Molecular Engineering

The molecular engineering graduate program in the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering offers interdisciplinary training across all areas of material science and immuno-engineering, and bioengineering. The interdisciplinary nature of the school allows students to engage with quantum technology through this program.

Biophysical Sciences

The Biophysical Sciences graduate program spans the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, Physical Science Division, and Biological Science Division and allows students to take two mentors: one from the biological sciences and one from physical science or engineering. For example, a student may work with a clinician in the medical school and a quantum engineering.

For potential MD/PhD

MD/PhDs

The University of Chicago's Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) seeks to train the next generation of physician-scientist leaders, to provide all students with rigorous scientific training that prepares them to excel in their field of interest. Our students seek careers in biomedical research and have a desire to apply both clinical and research expertise to solve the most pressing problems in medical science. We are particularly interested in students with a focus on quantum technology.

For potential postdoctoral scholars

Berggren Center Postdoctoral Program

Prospective postdoctoral scholars may contact individual PIs at UChicago to inquire about opportunities. We review applications constantly, and we are always searching for stellar candidates who can help to propel our science and our people forward. The Berggren center offers funding to support a small number of stellar postdocs each year
